Inspired by the classic cult film from 1983, Wargames, DEFCON superbly evokes the tension, paranoia and suspicion of the Cold War era, playing on the fascinating aspects of the psychological game that appear during the strategic nuclear war.
You play the role of a general hidden in the depths of an underground bunker. Your mission is to successfully exterminate your enemy's civilian population while saving yours. Points are awarded or lost depending on the effectiveness and thoroughness of your nuclear revenge, as well as the number of deaths among your civilians. To win, you must destroy the enemy population and at the same time disable the enemy's ability to retaliate against you. This is an extremely difficult task, as launching an attack on the enemy exposes your own ground, submarine and bomber silos positions when launching nuclear weapons, making you extremely vulnerable and exposed to a crushing counterattack. Desperate attempts must be made to form quick and tactical alliances, alliances that can be broken at any moment to turn into the most treacherous and deadly betrayals. Everyone is looking at each other in a state of nervous suspense and paranoid accusations. In total nuclear Armageddon, everyone dies, everyone loses, you just have to make sure you lose as little as possible!
