Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have special jobs: They give people another chance to live, from the very beginning but only in the minds of their patients.
Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing that patients remember before giving their last breath.
Thus, the operation is done only on people on their deathbed, to accomplish what they would have wanted to do with their lives, but they did not.
This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny.
With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed.
As the two doctors put together the puzzling events that have spanned a lifetime, they try to find out why the fragile old man chose his death wish to be what it is.
